In a nutshell Alex is a very logical thinker and will not make a decision without first weighing the pros and cons. Alex has a pretty boring life. His parents are great, they support the decisions he's made in his life and he's close with his dad. He's active--a surfer and football player for fun--but he's also smart. He's not perfect and he'll be the first to admit it--his Herbology, Charms, and Ancient Runes scores are abysmal at best--and coming from a house like Ward it's hard to shake the reputation. To some Alex can be a jerk, mostly because he doesn't beat around the bush, but the fact is he believes in honesty and if someone is boring him he'll make it known and walk away, in the most polite way possible.
Alex considers himself an ambitious young man and if you ever need advice, or help, or just someone to listen Alex is the man to go to, just not when he's studying--which he does quite often--as this will annoy him or anger him, he's determined to keep his grades up. The only problem with Alex is he tends to follow a very strange and complex train of thought which some people find hard to follow, but for Alex the connection between a macaw and a hemp sock are perfectly clear. Keep up with him and you've won over a dear friend, he's willing to give second chances but that's stretching it. Alex offers his trust to very few.
The one thing guaranteed to set Alex off is calling him English. He's from Scotland, born and raised and it's not that he has a problem with the English--they're all fine and great--but he's not English and he'd thank you to remember it. For the sake of your nose, it would be best if you did.
